Birth: Dec. 21, 1801
Death: Oct. 7, 1856
David Reeder was a member of the Willie Handcart Company along with several members of his family. When the company ran out of food and winter came early, David died on the trail approximately 50 miles west of Fort Laramie, Wyoming. He was buried alongside the trail.
"I am a 2nd g-grandson of David Reeder. I have served 2 handcart missions and have heard the evidence disputing Robert Reeder's report of David's death being the 7th of Oct. some 50 miles past fort Laramie. At least 3 contemporary journals state it was Oct. 1st on the hills overlooking Fort Laramie. I'm convinced Oct 1st is the correct date. Thanks, Hal Reeder"
