Coconut Cookie, Darlene Purser Bair

Cream together:

2 cups brown sugar
1 cup shortening

Add:
1 tsp baking soda in 1/4 cup hot water
2 eggs beaten
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
4 1/2 cups flour
1 cup coconut
