Fig Filling (Frosting), Darlene Purser Bair

Boil 2 cups of milk and 4 cups sugar. Don't let it burn. Have read to put in it 1 package of figs and 1/2 to 1 pound package of raisins ground together. They will be lumpy but will melt down in the hot candy mixture. Flavor with vanilla. Make the milk cups nearly run over but not the sugar. I cooked mine to barely a soft ball stage. If this is too stiff you can thing down with a little hot water. Finished it should still have quite a shiny look. You have to stir quite a bit. Our mother used to stir a while and then let it sit then go back and stir several times.
