Cherry Macaroon Cookies, Darlene Purser Bair

1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp almond extract

Mix well then add:
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cup coconut
1 cup maraschino cherries (add last)

Roll into small balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press a little, bake until light brown. Oven at 350` to 375` for 8 to 10 minutes.
