Pastry Shells, Darlene Purser Bair

1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp lemon juice
1 egg yolk (well beaten)

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together, cut in shortening. Pour hot water over butter. Stir until it melts. Cool to lukewarm, add lemon juice and egg yolk. Add to dry ingredients and stir until mixed. Chill good. Roll and bake for shells. Use as base for stew shells. Oven at 425`.
